Krawk Island
Krawk Island is one of the Cup's classic powerhouses, with lots of muscle across the board, provided by a massive, hard-playing fan base. The team took a tumble in last year's tournament however, brought down by the usual issues that afflict first-place teams, and ranking seventh overall.
Nevertheless, Krawk Island looks set to make a comeback this year. Of all the candidates for the hotly-contested rank four foothold in the first tier (a position which always seems to be decided at the very last minute in the double round-robin), this team seems the most likely to edge ahead of the rest. Krawk Island has a consistently strong record across the board in almost every tournament to date (although their side game play slipped slightly last year), and consistent strength usually equates to a lot of sweeps, and a lot of the crucial rank points that a team needs to make its mark on the standings.
The Cup is not won by consistency alone however - Yooyuball is the deciding sport of the Altador Cup, and especially critical when it comes to the finals. Team Krawk Island may have strength across the board, but it's unlikely that they'll be able to overwhelm other top tier teams in the staple game. A lot of the team's all-stars moved on after their victory in AC IV, and this is a loss that may be quite difficult to recover from.
