Lost Desert
Another one of the Cup's classic powerhouses, Team Lost Desert has been a championship contender since the early days of the tournament - and contend they did, earning a position in last year's tier one, and going on to become the champions of the fifth Altador Cup.
Apart from some occasional side game inconsistency, the Lost Desert has always been a force to be reckoned with all across the board, with spectacular records in most side games, as well as the ever-critical Yooyuball. The team has an extremely large, hard-playing fan base that does not look to be going away any time soon. To put it simply: the support for Team Lost Desert is incredibly strong.
Alas, no team in the history of the Altador Cup, no matter how strong they were, has been able to withstand the inevitable effects of what is known as the 'Curse of the Cup'. After achieving a championship victory, a team's support base will grow considerably, but this growth will bring with it a large number of less active players, which will have a significant negative impact on the team's performance. Additionally (and arguably more importantly), many of the team's all-star supporters may move on to help out another team after winning the Cup with the Lost Desert, leaving the team missing much of its key support. These factors, along with the remarkable number of strong teams pushing up towards the first and second tiers this year, mean that Team Lost Desert will have a very hard time retaining a top spot.
