Virtupets
Historically a small, lower-tier team, Virtupets nevertheless possesses one of the Altador Cup's most loyal and well organised fan bases. Last year, the team showed just what organisation, loyalty, and sportsmanship can achieve, climbing up the ranks to achieve sixth place overall.
Every year of the Altador Cup seems to have its fledgeling powerhouses: teams on the brink of advancing from being a powerful underdog to a serious contender for the top tier, and from there, the Cup itself. This year is no exception. Team Virtupets' ability to develop a solid strategy, and then rally its supporters to carry that strategy through, is something which many fan groups strive to achieve, but few can match consistently. Taking this into account, the team's relatively small fan base can actually be considered an advantage, as a more tight-knit group allows for easier communication and motivation.
Like any fledgeling powerhouse however, Virtupets will need to work on its raw performance as well as its strategy if it's to have a chance at tier one. Sooner or later the team will probably bring up its side game performance to a consistent level across the board, and crank up their Yooyuball play a few notches as well, but that's not going to happen all at once. For now, it's unlikely that they'll cross the boundary into the realm of the championship contenders just yet.
