Kalium Echo Solution

Introduction

Well done to everyone to played Kalium Echo right through until the end. It was a menacing plot which never seemed to give away any ideas as to what the answers were. Well done to those who completed it, also, within or just after the time limit. You saved TDN from massive problems.

Plot Line

On the 1st November, TDN was in a horrid state. A problem had occured with Betty the Server, which allowed someone (Know as 'The Evil One') to infiltrate and set up a cracking procedure to completely fry TDN unless something was done.

Your job was to get in and infiltrate The Evil One's lair and stop this coding from executing. "Sounds easy!" I here you cry. Not when he gets passed security gates as quick as he did. The pressure was really on then! Luckily, you all kept your cool and 7 of you managed to overthrow The Evil One before it was too late.

Solution

Kalium Echo has its own channel on YouTube where you can watch video solutions to the puzzles which stumped you for days! Click here for the channel, or watch the whole thing from start to finish below:

The Sentinels

Before the plot, TDN subtly asked for peoples help with a little bit of server maintenance. Four of those who voulenteered became 'Sentinels' - Members who were fed clues and information regarding the plot, choosing to keep the information for personal gain, or to share it with the groups on the forums to get them all a step forward.

The clues they were given were evil and cryptic. Some simply involved a picture of a traffic light, while others beated around the bush simply to get one word out.

The sentinels were, listed by forum username at the time:

Boomer
Flying Spaghetti Monster
Zac
Dillon

The Evil One

'The Evil One' was unmasked unceremoneously when you completed the plot. The Evil One was in fact Jerry's evil twin, Gerald. A mutant, three-toed Pteri with a lot on his plate in terms of getting revenge on his pleasant brother. Could it have been jealousy which fueled such widespread panic?

"What sparked my violence? I don't know. Perhaps it had something to do with my oh-so-perfect brother who sits pretty on the top of every single page in this establishment. I thought 'Hey. I know what will knock him off of his high perch!' and decided to try and cripple the one thing that makes him popular. Why can't it be me, his lesser known cousin, doing all the high-rolling, multi-million Neopoint jobs for once? Am I not glamourous enough? Am I not as well known? Am I too different?"

- Gerald Pteri (18th November)
